My name is Securitae. Also under the alias of 'Tick'.
I have been roleplaying with the Half Life 2 Schema for roughly a year and a half--And I have staffed on many servers, a majority of my time being a 'Senior Administrator' on LittleNerdGaming and SlothGaming. I have held many a position in terms of leading a faction; UNION Divisional twice, Resistance Manager, and CWU Director. I find myself very well placed when working with factions. However, I have never worked with the Vortigaunt faction--For I have feared sometimes it would be too much of a load for me. But I have had a change of heart, and here I am, ready to write out this guide. Enough of my jibber jabber. Here we go.


Xenotherium subservilia; The Subservient Alien Beasts from the 'off-world' planet Xen. Vortigaunts were previously bound by the Nihilanth's commands to invade earth after the rift from the anti mass spectrometer in the Black Mesa Research Facility. The woven vortessence of the vortigaunts was obstructed, and they began their attack on the Earth, as well as escape from the 'Combine' grasp. Whether or not the vortigaunts are born from Nihilanth or not, the bonds of the telekinesis are beyond the human's comprehension in Half Life 2. No human is able to fluently speak or understand the complex tongue of the Vortigaunts.

After the death of Nihilanth, the mind of the vortigaunts became clear, and timidly befriended the humans soon after the invasion of the Seven Hour War. Whether or not vortigaunts turned themselves over to the Universal Union to be used as heretics is not mentioned in the canon, and should not be considered as such. It is the simple belief that the vortigaunts, as portrayed in this photo, were established by the abusive fist of the Civil Protection as a petty street sweeper or window cleaner, starved and bound in painful chains that restrained their ability to disperse bolts of lightning or use telekinesis. The overall view, in character of a vortigaunt is very afraid and depressing, with the fear of the shocking strike of the stun baton against their fragile, bony ribs.

VORTIGAUNTS CAN :
- Run away, at the expense of the tracking devices inside of their chains;
- Be freed of their chains, at the expense of the lack of equipment making this a very, very dangerous process;
- Speak in their native tongue but are weary of doing so around units.
VORTIGAUNTS CAN NOT;
- Overpower a unit, as they are weak and usually afraid of being beaten (Unless they are striking in force or other sorts of imposing factors)
- Heal themselves, other persons, or use their energy around them to summon bolts, as their restraints prevent them from doing so.
- Use telekinesis. The restraints prevent this? How? Don't know. We don't see enslaved vorts fighting or protecting Gordon or Alyx during the story.
